What courses will I have to take?
Your program of study will include:
  • Six Courses in theology which form a core.  The course are geared to a paradigm of practical theology which will give you the theological tools to critically analyze your faith experiences and those of your faith community.
  • Five courses in the area of your interest.  These specialized courses are offered to sharpen your skills and help you in the pursuit of a particular ministry.  You may specialize in:  Religious Education, Liturgy, Pastoral Ministry, or Youth Ministry.  You also may be able to construct a personal specialization with advice from an advisor which would meet your own specific needs.
  • One course which is the integrative colloquium.  Its purpose is to help you bring together the core and your specialization.  We hope that you will see how practical theology encourages the application of scripture and your religious tradition to the particular problems you face in ministry.
  • A final two credit course will be a master's thesis which, following the pattern of paractical theology, should apply contemporary religious thought to a specific pastoral question.
